WINGS FALL TO SKY

Chicago, IL– In their first match-up of the season in Chicago, the Wings found themselves in a tough battle against the Sky, falling short 90-84.

The Wings took command at the start, taking the opening tip when Glory Johnson tipped it to Karima Christmas-Kelly, to give the Wings first possession, and go up by three from a 3-point shot by Allisha Gray. As the game progressed the team found themselves in a close matchup tying the game three times, to end the first at 20 all.

In the second, the Wings took command and gained a comfortable lead, to end the quarter up by four, with a score of 50-46. Allisha Gray led the way, scoring 11 points, with nine coming from behind the arc.

Diggins-Smith led the team in scoring, recording her seventh 20-point game of the season. She also led the team in total assists with five.

Gray was two points shy of her career high scoring 18 for the afternoon, while Johnson and Christmas-Kelly ended the day with 10 points each.

Off the bench, the Wings had great performances by Kayla Thornton and Kaela Davis. Thornton ended the day with 14 points, four total rebounds and two steals, while Davis brought in 11 points, two rebounds and two assists.
