WINGS BEAT THE FEVER

Arlington, TX – In the last quarter of tonight’s matchup, the Wings soared high, as they defeated the Fever 84-82 to take the overall series 2-1 and record their 11th win in the season.

In the final minutes, Allisha Gray recorded 10 of her total 12 points to help lift the Wings. The team was down by as much as 13 in the fourth and pulled within four with 6:55 remaining in the game. At the halfway point of the quarter the Fever took an eight point lead, and looked like they were going to run with the game, until Skylar Diggins-Smith found an open shot behind the 3-point line to sink the shot and get the Wings going.

With 4:38 left in the game, Gray saw the Fever’s Brianna January in her sights, taking the ball away, forcing Indiana to foul, which led her to the line. At the line she sank both shots to put the Wings within three. She later found an open jump shot to put the team within two, which gave Glory Johnson a chance seconds later to rebound and tie the game 80 all. After a second tie in the quarter, Diggins-Smith found Gray for the open jump shot to put the Wings up for the final score 84-82, never allowing the Fever to score and keep them at bay.

Three Wings recorded double figures for the night. Diggins-Smith led the team in total points for the sixth straight game, recording 21. It also marked as the sixth straight game she had scored 20 points or more. Gray ended the night with 12 points, while Johnson came in scoring 11 points.

The Wings bench was hot tonight, scoring a total of 29 points. Aerial Powers made her grand debut to lead the bench in scoring with nine points, while Courtney Paris scored eight points, and led the team in total rebounds with 10.
