DALLAS, TEXAS — Keenan Evans cored 22 points and hit a tie breaking 3-pointer with 2 1/2 minutes left as third-seeded Texas Tech beat Florida 69-66 on Saturday night.
Evans has scored 45 points (22.5 per game) in the two NCAA Championship wins for Texas Tech, registering 33 of those in the second half (16.5 per game). Tonight was the 14th time in 23 games this season that he has scored 20 or mor e points. Texas Tech is now 19-4 this season when he scores 20 or more points.
Evans said, “My teammates and coaching instilling confidence in me to take and make those big shots. Just putting in the work and staying confident in it and knowing my team needs me to do that.
Texas Tech will be making its third all-time appearance in the Sweet 16 since the field was expanded to 64 in 1985. The Red Raiders went to the Sweet 16 in 2005 and 1996. TTU will be vying for its first ever Elite Eight appearance.
