FRISCO, TEXAS – Wide Receiver Terrance Williams suffered a broken foot during the off-season that required surgery and he will be out for a while. Everything is beginning to make more sense. The Cowboys recently signed two wide receivers Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson. Many believed this was in relation to veteran Dez Brant who had a poor performance year in 2017. The Cowboys have begun to make a statement about the need for top clutch receivers on the roster for the 2018 season.
Last year Williams signed a $17 million 4-year contract, but his play-making ability on the field has been similar to that of Dez Bryant. With that amount of money under the salary cap, a certain level of production is expected and required on the field: one that has not been met.
With Williams injured, the Cowboys’ decision becomes more difficult. It is difficult to trade players who are injured, and Williams cannot put up a fight for a starting position from the sidelines.
The Cowboys will have to make a hard decision on Bryant and Williams and we will keep you updated on their stories as the off-season continues in full swing!
