Dallas Cowboys Sign DE Kony Ealy To One-Year Deal

FRISCO, TEXAS – The Dallas Cowboys have put the speculation surrounding defensive end Kony Ealy to rest by signing him to a one-year deal on Monday.

The Cowboys have been searching for better depth to their defensive line after the conclusion of the 2017 season. The Cowboys placed the franchise tag on defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence and a second-round tender on defensive tackle David Irving. Ealy will join the pass rush rotation of Tyrone Crawford, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Taco Charlton.

Ealy played college football at Missouri and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the second-round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Over the course of his NFL career for the Panthers (2014-16) and the Jets (2017), Ealy has accumulated 90 combined tackles, 53 total, and 15 sacks in 62 games as a starter. He had an explosive performance in Super Bowl 50 for the Panthers with three sacks. In 2017 he had 14 combined tackles and 1 sack in 15 games played.

The Cowboys have faith in Ealy’s ability and look forward to seeing his progression on the practice field this off-season in silver and blue.
