Mavs Host Suns In Season Ending Game

DALLAS, TX – It’s been a long, roller coaster of a season for the Dallas Mavericks (24-57). There have been proud moments like rookie Dennis Smith Jr. impressing the world at the NBA Dunk Contest. Unfortunately, there have also been really shameful moments such as the Mavs’ front office internal woes.

Despite it all, Dallas will close out the regular season in the final matchup at the American Airlines Center against the Phoenix Suns (20-60). Led by Devin Booker, the Suns have officially clinched the worst record in the league but also have the best chance at landing the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

The 117-100 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday was expected especially since Phoenix had only nine active players on the roster – a real skeleton crew.

With nothing left to play for (except maybe pride), actually trying to win tonight’s game might be a stretch to say the least. I’m sure if Devin Booker suits up he’ll give us a show either way.

Dallas returns to the AAC after dropping three straight games on the road and more recently to the surging 76ers.

Benn Simmons was a menace for the Mavs and collected 16 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, and four steals all while leading Philly to a 109-97 victory.

It’s worth mentioning that three Dallas players finished with double-doubles (DSJ, Dwight Powell, and Maxi Kleber).

It won’t do the Mavericks any good by winning tonight’s game if they are trying to increase their lottery odds but more than likely they will put in more than enough effort.

Tipoff is set for 7:30pm CT at the American Airlines Center.
