Cowboys and Rattlers Meet On Home Turf For Skills Challenge

FRISCO, Texas – The Major League Lacrosse Team the Dallas Rattlers will challenge the Dallas Cowboys to a Skills Challenge on Monday April 16th at Ford Center, the Star in Frisco. The Cowboys will play host to the Rattlers at their World Headquarters for some friendly competition as Texas’ first Major League Lacrosse team prepares to kick off their 2018 season.

Representatives from both teams include:

Dallas Cowboys:
Defensive back, Jeff Heath
Defensive back and corner back, Byron Jones

Dallas Rattlers:
Goalie, Christian Carson-Banister
Midfielder, Joe Gillis
Attackman, Zack Greer

Players from both teams performed and taught drills for their own sport, and the players from the opposing sport had to try to succeed at them. Jones and Heath took the Rattlers through tackling, blocking, receiving, and tested their ability at quarterback on run routes. During tackling and blocking, Heath explained how you must “win with your feet before your hands,” as he demonstrated by putting his hands behind his back. The Rattler’s goalie Christian Carson-Banister excelled at that station and Jones dubbed him a “linebacker!” Laughter filled the indoor field at Ford Center today as Heath and Jones had their shot as Lacrosse players and Carson-Banister, Gillis, and Greer had the chance to test their ability as Football players.

These friendly foes will be seeing a lot more from each other as the new Dallas Rattlers Team will be using the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters facilities for their games as the 2018 season kicks off. The Dallas Cowboy players may be picking up a new hobby in the near future. Both Heath and Jones commented that they “did not offer Lacrosse at their high schools” but that they enjoyed playing.
