Former Cowboys’ WR T.O. Verbally Attacks Head Coach Jason Garrett

FRISCO, Texas – In an interview with 105.3 The Fan, former Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver Terrell Owens bluntly describes his thoughts on head coach Jason Garrett.

He lashed out “ How can you, at some point keep allowing a coach to use the players as a scapegoat for what’s not happening. Especially when you have a head coach that’s supposed to be offensive minded. They’re supposed to direct and lead the team to where a team hasn’t gotten in a number of years. They have pretty much been under a standstill under head coach Jason Garrett.”

Wow! Those are some bold remarks against a man who was voted Associated Press’ Coach of the Year Award after the 2016 season when the Cowboys finished 13-3 and two rookies in their offensive scheme finished the season with awards: Dak Prescott for AP’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and Ezekiel Elliott for leading the league in rushing yards with 1,631 concluding the season. Garrett led a young rookie secondary in the defensive backfield and the young leaders in their offensive line-up to the number one seed in the NFC East. That season was a testament to Garrett’s coaching ability and instincts to go with young QB Dak Prescott and bench veteran Tony Romo. In 2009 as the Interim Coach/Offensive Coordinator, the Cowboys ended the season 11-5, and in 2014 as Head Coach, the Cowboys had a 12-4 winning season. Those years for the Cowboys have not been “standstills,” but progressions toward their ultimate goal: a Super Bowl.

How quickly people forget that was just two seasons ago. That same coach is leading “America’s Team.” Owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, has repeatedly announced his unwavering support and faith“ I get to look at a lot of different things and have been around a lot of head coaches and coordinators, so I feel good about our head coach…. I certainly know a lot about Jason Garrett. Because of that, I can very quickly and candidly say his job is not an issue here at all.”

Garrett has been with the Cowboys since 2011, where he became the first former Dallas Cowboys player to become the team’s head coach. Jason Garrett bleeds ‘silver and blue’ and has devoted himself to seeing his team succeed and win a championship. With the talent and young rookies the Cowboys’ have acquired through free agency and the 2018 NFL Draft, the hopefulness of the future is displayed by exuberance on faces as you step foot into the facility.
