Liz Cambage Named Western Conference Player Of The Week

NEW YORK –  Dallas Wings center Liz Cambage has been named Western Conference player of the week for her outstanding performances during the week of May 28-June 3.

This is Cambage’s third Player of the Week honor of her career and first since 2013, when she last played in the WNBA before returning this season.

Cambage led the Wings to a 1-1 mark as Dallas ended the week with a 3-3 record.  The 6-8 center from Australia paced West players in scoring (26.5 ppg) and led all WNBA players in rebounding (11.5 rpg).  She also ranked fourth in the West in blocks (1.5 bpg) and 10th in shooting percentage (53.1, 17-of-32).

Cambage opened the week by equaling her career high of 28 points and adding a season-high 16 rebounds and four assists in the matchup against Eastern Conference Player of the Week Tina Charles and the Liberty.

This past Saturday, she recorded 25 points, seven rebounds and two blocks to lead the Wings past the Seattle Storm 94-90. Her record breaking 17 points in the fourth quarter gave her the second-best mark in franchise history for most points scored in a quarter behind Riquna Williams’ 20-point quarter game on September 8, 2013 in San Antonio.

The Wings return to action this Friday, June 8, when they travel east to face the Indiana Fever. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
