Cowboys Hold 7th Annual U Camp

FRISCO, Texas – Thursday the Dallas Cowboys hosted the seventh annual Cowboys U High School Football Camp presented by Texas Lottery at the Star, the official headquarters for the team.

For the event, players exchanged roles with their coaches, and the coaches became the referees for a 7-on-7 tournament of 12 teams, that ended in a championship. Each year since 2012 under the leadership of head coach Jason Garrett, the Cowboys have hosted the camp as a fun way to close out off-season workouts, and an opportunity to interact with and impact the lives of nearly 192 high school athletes representing 44 high schools in the North Texas school districts.

These deserving young athletes will never forget the special day they had the chance to learn from men who made it to the elite level they dream of and strive towards. The Cowboys staff and players want to make a difference in the lives of young men and instill in them the importance of teamwork and perseverance in following their goals. During the event, students had the opportunity to brainstorm ideas of change to be implemented in their individual communities to solve problems. The students then submitted applications with their ideas to earn scholarship funds, to be handed out by Garrett during the camp.

The winner for this year’s camp was Dan Bailey’s team that beat the opposing team of punter Chris Jones in the championship. The other head coaches for the tournament were Travis Frederick, Sean Lee, Tyron Smith, Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott, Byron Jones, DeMarcus Lawrence, Jeff Heath, Cole Beasley, and Tyron Crawford.

2015 Champions: Team Brandon Carr
