FRISCO, Texas – Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle, David Irving, will once again miss four games of the season due to violating the league’s substance abuse policy, as he did last season in 2017 where he was absent the last four games.
When Irving stays out of trouble and is present on the field, he is a dominating pass rusher that makes a difference on the inside of the defensive line. Last season in a career best, he amassed 22 tackles and seven sacks in eight game starts.
The Cowboys need Irving’s talent on the inside of the line. He needs to step up, take responsibility for his actions, and mature as he moves forward. He has wasted the opportunity of making a difference in four games already for his team, and he will now miss another four. He is in an elite position with “America’s Team” that many athletes would kill for. His talent was on display last season during the half he was able to perform in, and there is no doubt to his abilities. If he can stay out of trouble and remain healthy, the possibilities for No. 95 are endless.
Defensive coordinator, Rod Marinelli, has spoken out on Irving’s talent stating that when he is present in their defensive scheme “you better account for him.”
If Irving could have a fully focused 16 game season, he would have limitless potential and could become one of the greatest tackles in the National Football League.
