Work of Young Early 90’s Cowboy Teams Used As Building Blocks

FRISCO, Texas – The successful era of the Dallas Cowboys in the early 90’s was made up of young men. In 1992, only five starters were in there 30s: Jay Novacek, Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, Issiac Holt, and Mike Saxon. In 1993, five starters were in there 30s: Jay Novacek, Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, Tony Casillas, and Eddie Murray. In 1994, five players were in there 30s: Novacek, Tuinei, Newton, Derek Kennard, and Charles Haley. In 1995, again only five starters were in there 30s: Novacek, Tuinei, Newton, Ray Donaldson, and Haley.

In four years, the Cowboys won three Super Bowls in 93(XXV11), 94(XXV111), and 96(XXX). A roster does not have to be made up of experienced veterans in there 30s to win championships. The Cowboys made the seemingly impossible, well possible and with a young roster. Age does not matter in winning championships, what matters is the hard work and dedication that individual players put in to get to that point. Those players in the early 90s worked as hard as they could each and everyday to get one-step closer to their goal: to win a Super Bowl.

In the press conference at the Star during Mandatory Mini-Camp, Garrett expressed the influence of those teams in the early 90s that he was a part of, on this young current Cowboys team. “ It was a young team but really some special players. I was really fortunate to be apart of those teams. The way those teams went about it was really special too. They came to work everyday and they had fun playing football but they worked at it. To me, that is what we are really trying to instill in our team. Lets get here early, lets stay late. Lets work hard at it and let’s have some fun playing football together. I think that is some of the takeaways from those teams in the early 90s. “

The Cowboys of today are a young team with only three players on the roster in there 30s: Dan Bailey, L.P. Ladouceur, and Sean Lee. The Cowboys proved the capability of what a young roster can do on the field in the early 90s by making history. With relentless effort and love of the game, this young Cowboys team can make history once again. Highlights of the winning seasons in the 90s line the walls of the Star in Frisco, for players to look at and be reminded of the standard surrounding the Star on their jerseys. With training camp in five weeks, players will fight to prove their ability for a starting position on “America’s Team!”
