OXNARD, Calif. – During the second press conference of Training Camp for the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Jason Garrett, discussed the leaders on the offense and defense side of the football.
“ Dak Prescott is the leader of the offense and Sean Lee the leader of the defense… To have the leader of offense and defense show everybody the way means a lot for this football team. “
Prescott and Lee are routinely working in the facilities outside of mandatory practices. The minute the last team meeting concluded after the 2017 season, Lee immediately walked to the linebacker room to watch film and prepare for the 2018 season. His knowledge of the game and instincts at the line of scrimmage are unmatched, and that comes from his solid preparation and work ethic. Lee is constantly working to perfect his craft.
He has been plagued with injury every season since his start in 2010, but he quickly bounces back and makes a drastic difference in the defense for the Cowboys. When he is not able to play due to injury, he cheers on his teammates from the sidelines, watches film, teaches his teammates the tendencies and tactics of opposing offensive schemes as shown on All or Nothing, and he watches more film. He has earned the role of “quarterback of the defense!”
As the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott is automatically the leader of the offense, but he gained the favor and trust of the offensive lineman, receivers, tight ends, and running backs when he took over for Romo during his injury. He led the Cowboys to a 13-3 season his rookie year and won the AP offensive rookie of the year award, along with his starting role. He was thrust into action when Romo was injured and handled himself with ease in the pocket.
He continues to work on his arm and chemistry with receivers. He joined Allen Hurns, Deonte Thompson, Michael Gallup, and Lance Lenoir in Orlando Florida at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports for added practice and bonding before Training Camp. The work individual players do outside of practice with coaches, is what translates on the gridiron. These two leaders for “America’s Team” are doing things the right way!
