“Hot Boyz” Steal The Show With 6 Sacks

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants 20-13 in regular season week 2. The team that showed up tonight on the field is the Cowboys’ team that fans have been longing to see.

The Cowboys got off to a perfect start in the first quarter with Dak Prescott’s 64-yard pass to Tavon Austin for the touchdown. The drive was three plays for 75 yards in the first 1:34 on the clock. The run game also got off to a solid start amassing 67 total yards in the first quarter with Prescott for 28 yards, Ezekiel Elliott for 24, and Austin for 15. Brett Maher kicked a 37-yard field goal through the uprights to put the Cowboys up 10-0 in the first quarter. Prescott finished the game 16 of 25 for 160 yards and one touchdown.

Dallas’ offense staled during the second and third quarter, until Elliott’s 6-yard TD run in the fourth, but the Cowboys’ defense had a big performance. Prescott finished the game 16 of 25 for 160 yards and one touchdown. Elliott finished with 17 carries for 78 yards and an average of 4.6 yards after the catch.

In the second quarter, Dallas’ defense stole the show with four sacks on Eli Manning by Taco Charlton, Antwaun Woods, Kavon Frazier, and Demarcus Lawrence. The performance continued into the third quarter with Damien Wilson’s sack on Manning, causing a fumble recovered by Charlton to put the Cowboys’ offense back on the field. The drive ended in a 29-yard field goal by Maher to increase Dallas’ lead to 13-0. Tyrone Crawford also had a sack to bring the total tally to six for the “hot boyz.” Their new nickname lived up to the hype against Pat Shurmur’s offensive scheme. With the issues they had last week in stopping Cam Newton on the run, this is the statement the defense needed to make.
