Dallas Must Fix Offensive Struggles Heading Into Detroit Matchup

FRISCO, Texas – The 1-2 Dallas Cowboys face the 1-2 Detroit Lions Team on Sunday at AT&T Stadium. The two teams have met 27 times, with Dallas leading the series winning 15, and Detroit winning 12. The Cowboys have won seven of the last ten meetings and have a 10-3 record against the Lions at home, including 2-0 in the postseason. Thirteen of the 27 matchups have been decided by less than a touchdown.

The biggest key for the Cowboys coming off a 24-13 loss to the Seahawks will be getting something going offensively against new head coach Matt Patricia’s Patriots-like-defense, that will vary between a one and a two-gap defensive line. The Cowboys have scored 41 points in the last three games, the fewest to start a season since 1990. The team has had fewer than 200 passing yards since week 15 against the Raiders in 2017 (212).

On the opposite side of the football, Dallas’ defense has to shut down Detroit’s offense that was among the highest scoring in the NFL last season at No.6, due to Matt Stafford’s passing ability. The “hotboyz” will prepare for the new weapons Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount, added to rejuvenate the Lions’ running game that was ranked last in the league during the 2017 season.

“ Matt has been a good coach for a long time. They play a variety of looks up front and we have to make sure communication is clean, “ Garrett said.
