FRISCO, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys’ 2018 season was filled with several unforgettable moments as players made their mark on the gridiron, proudly representing the Star on their helmets. Here is a list of some of the Cowboys’ finest in 2018:
Week Two vs. Giants:
Dak Prescott aired out a deep 64-yard pass to Tavon Austin for the touchdown on the opening drive. Prescott faked the ball to Elliott after the snap and shot the ball downfield to Austin, who gained separation on the play to make the connection. The drive for Dallas was 3 plays, 75 yards, and took 1:34 off the clock. The play gave the Cowboys an early lead and shifted the momentum to Dallas early on in the ballgame.
Week Four vs. Lions:
Late in the fourth quarter, Ezekiel Elliott caught a deep 34-yard pass over the shoulder flanked out wide right, to put the Cowboys in field goal range at Detroit’s 25. Elliott had a defender on him down the sideline, but Dak threw a perfect pass in front of Zeke for him to be able to bring it in, out of the hands of the corner. The play set up Brett Maher’s 38-yard FG with :03 on the clock for the Cowboys’ 26-24 win.
Week Ten at Eagles:
Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 32-yards on the carry and hurdled over Tre Sullivan during the play, to gain more yardage. He displayed incredible force, agility, and effort behind the run to help his team. He brought the offense inside the 10-yard line at the Eagles’ eight on the first down.
Week 11 at Falcons:
Leighton Vander Esch intercepted the ball off a pass-run option. Matt Ryan made a run motion and intended to pass the ball to Calvin Ridley, but the ball fell out of the hands of Ridley and into the hands of rookie linebacker LVE. He gained 28-yards on the play to Atlanta’s 31, for his second straight career interception in two consecutive games. His interception helped set up Zeke’s TD on the following drive.
Week 12 vs. Redskins:
On Amari Cooper’s second touchdown of the night from second and nine, Cooper connected with Dak Prescott for a gain of 90-yards on the play. He broke loose from coverage on the route and ran almost the entire distance of the field for the touchdown and extended the Cowboys’ lead to 24-13 in the third quarter.
Week 13 vs. Saints:
DeMarcus Lawrence kept the highest scoring offense in the NFC out of the end zone. From fourth and goal, Lawrence burst off the edge at the line of scrimmage and came from behind to prevent Alvin Kamara from crossing the goal line on the rush. Incredible tackle and effort on the play by D-Law in keeping the Saints to 0 points at that point in the ballgame.
Week 13 vs. Saints:
Tied at 16-16 on the first play from scrimmage late in the fourth quarter, Amari Cooper connected with Dak Prescott on a 75-yard touchdown pass. Cooper got around De’Vante Bausby down the sideline and cut inside on the route to make the catch and reach the end zone for the score. He put the team up 23-16.
Week 16 vs. Buccaneers:
From third and five on Dallas’ 34-yard line, Jaylon Smith picked up the fumble and ran it back for a 69-yard gain and a TD. Randy Gregory knocked the ball out and Smith capitalized with a score on the fumble recovery. The play shifted the momentum to Dallas early in the ballgame.
Week 17 at Giants:
Chidobe Awuzie intercepted a pass intended for Sterling Shepard in the end zone. Awuzie high-pointed the football to prevent the Giants from scoring on their opening drive and put the Cowboys’ offense on the field with a chance to score.
Week 17 at Giants:
From fourth and 15 at New York’s 32-yard line with 1:14 left on the clock, Dak Prescott spun away from the pocket under heavy pressure and released a 32–yard bomb to Cole Beasley in the back of the end zone for the touchdown. Prescott showed incredible mobility skills on the scramble in a clutch game time situation, and Beasley made an unbelievable catch on the play; maintaining possession of the ball and getting his knee down in bounds to give Dallas the win.
