DALLAS, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys have finally made a move for their power edge rusher, DeMarcus Lawrence. The club placed the franchise tag on D-Law for the second consecutive year and the man quarterback’s fear is off the market. Lawrence desires a long-term deal with the franchise and they have until the July 15th deadline to negotiate a deal, or he could choose to not sign the tag and walk.
No.90 earned $17.1 million on the tag in 2018 and is expected to make over $20 million this season. His production level the past two years has been off the charts and there is no question surrounding what Dallas needs to do; whatever it takes to keep Lawrence. He elevates those around him and solidifies the Cowboys’ defensive line. In the past two years, the ‘Tank’ has amassed 122 combined tackles, 77 solo tackles, 25 sacks, two passes defensed, and one interception.
He has tunnel vision as a player and only has focus on wreaking havoc on opposing offensive schemes and bringing their leaders to the ground from week-to-week. Lawrence is an essential driving force behind Dallas’ stellar defense.
