FRISCO, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys had a busy week with signings for the upcoming 2019 NFL season. On Thursday, the club signed linebacker and special teams guy, Justin March-Lillard.
March-Lillard was signed to a one-year deal. The 25-year-old primarily played on special teams adding depth, making an appearance in all 16 regular season games. JML also played a minimal eight snaps on defense, with Jaylon Smith having an explosive season and Leighton Vander Esch contributing a standout rookie season.
No.53 played college ball for the University of Akron and went undrafted following the 2015 NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs signed him as a free agent after the draft. Shortly after, he was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. He was waved by the Chiefs and was claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks in 2017, before landing in Dallas. The day he got a call from Jerry Jones was the day he buried his baby brother. The versatile player has battled loss and setbacks, but has beat the odds and persevered to get where he is today- playing for the Silver and Blue his second year. His love of the game and positive attitude precedes him, and elevates those around him on the gridiron and in the Cowboys’ locker-room.
I spoke with Justin on the opportunity, “ It’s a blessing to be apart of the Dallas Cowboys, America’s Team. To be able to go back to war with my teammates and brothers means a lot to me. We have some unfinished business to take care of for 2019. Whatever and wherever the coaches need me to be, I’ll be there giving 200% effort. I will work to be a four phase special monster in the 2019 season. I also will work to become a player that can come in on defense and contribute at a high level.”
Congratulations and best of luck to Justin March-Lillard in the upcoming season!
