Cowboys Sign Former Texans’ DE Christian Covington

FRISCO, Texas – With the loss of Randy Gregory and David Irving, the Dallas Cowboys are making strides in free agency to strengthen their pass rush. The team signed former Houston Texans’ defensive lineman, Christian Covington, to a one-year deal on Thursday.

Covington was named first-team All-Conference USA after recording 59 tackles and four sacks as a sophomore at Rice University. After his Jr. year, Covington entered the 2015 NFL Draft and was selected by the Houston Texans in the sixth round (216th overall).

During his four-year tenure with the Texans in 50 games, the 25-year-old tallied 65 combined tackles, 39 solo tackles, 7.5 sacks, and a pass defensed.
