Mustangs Lose To Bearcats

CINNCINATI — The SMU Mustangs are knocked out of the AAC Quarterfinals to no. 2 seed Cincinnati, 82-74. Sr. Jimmy Whitt led the Mustangs with a career-high 24 points and Sr. Jahmal McMurray was right behind him adding 18. The Mustangs and Bearcats were tied with 4:53 remaining, but Cincy’s Jarron Cumberland was able to pull away and take over.

Cumberland racked up two three-point plays with 2:21 left until the final buzzer. After that, the Mustangs were missing shots left and right and were then forced to be fouled in hopes to regain a lead.

The Mustangs finish the season 15-17 while the Bearcats will continue on in the AAC tournament and play against the Wichita State Shockers this afternoon.
