FRISCO, Texas – It is official, wide receiver Randall Cobb will trade in dark green and gold for silver and blue. The Dallas Cowboys signed the eight-year veteran to a one-year deal worth $5 million. The 28-year-old will join the Cowboys’ receiving core and will more than likely become the team’s primary slot man.
Cobb has great short area speed on routes and is great at getting open against zone coverage. In addition to Amari Cooper, Randall is another weapon for Dak Prescott to target. He is an experienced player with the right intangibles. The former Packer can also double as a punt returner, splitting duties with Tavon Austin in 2019. The Cowboys can use Cobb in a variety of ways and like Cooper, he will change the way defenses play America’s Team.
During his eight-year tenure in Green Bay, Cobb amassed 470 receptions for 5,524 yards, an 11.8 average after the catch, and 41 touchdowns in 105 total games played.
The Cowboys will have a solid set up this season with Cooper and Michael Gallup lined up wide with Cobb on the inside. He will help elevate the team’s offensive scheme and the competition for snaps will boost performance within the receiving core. Welcome to Dallas Randall Cobb!
