Cowboys Kick Off Minicamp: Offense Continues to Raise Excitement

FRISCO, Texas – Full squad Minicamp commenced at the Star in Frisco with a mandatory practice for the Dallas Cowboys roster. The coaching staff focused on scheme work and technique with the team.

There is a lot of talk surrounding the optimism of the Dallas offense with new offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, quarterback coach, Jon Kitna; along with Jason Witten coming back, and the addition of versatile receiver, Randall Cobb.

In the locker-room on Tuesday, wide receiver Allen Hurns remarked that the offense is “Stacked more than it has been with the depth at tight end and wide receiver.”

Both Witten and Cobb are seasoned veterans with a broad knowledge in formations and routes. They are additional weapons for Dak Prescott and will change the way opposing defenses play the Cowboys. Cobb can line up wide, in the slot, and can make an impact on special teams with his speed and vision as a kick returner. Witten is obviously as reliable as they come and runs fluid routes paired with tremendous physicality after the catch. He is out to prove that age is not a restriction, but just a number.

Witten looked like he has not missed a beat at minicamp as he ran several different fluid routes, including a turn and go. Cobb is fitting into the mix and had a standout practice with a touchdown reception in the corner of the end zone, along with a superb catch on a cross route where he exhibited solid ball handling skills.

I spoke with wide receiver Lance Lenoir on the impact of Witt and Cobb,” Witten is a threat and a hall of famer,” he said. “To have him on the field and to have his presence is very dangerous. To have Cobb, his mind, it’s like having a second quarterback on the field. It’s great for the offense.”

The saying goes that ‘defenses win championships,’ but the offense is what will seal the deal and the Cowboys are on the right track!
