FRISCO, Texas — The summer heat came into Frisco for the intercontinental friendly game between FC Dallas and Club Tijuana’s Xolos. This game was a rather a nostalgic one for Xolo’s head coach, Juan Pareja. Pareja was a former FC Dallas player, Academy Director and the winningest head coach. Making his return to the Toyota Stadium field was an eventful one as FC Dallas head coach Luchi Gonzalalez had also trained under Pareja’s term.
The match followed FC Dallas coming off of a victory with D.C. United. FC played defensively toward the first half with high temperatures letting the team take breaks, they still maneuvered the game quickly. Starting with Defender, Dominique Bandji who almost scored 3 shots in the 1st half. Pomykal took control well into the 1st quarter of the 1st half, almost scoring a left footed kick and missing by a couple of feet. The game was at a steady pace until Forward, Pablo
Aránguiz, collided with Fernando Arce, obtaining him a yellow card following a heavy dispute with the referee and dismissing Arce with a red card. It was a fair game for both teams with a concluding score of 0 to 0 in the first half. With only the 2nd half starting, the warning yellow card was shown to Francis Atuahene and after a heavy collision Edwin Cerillo, the Midfielder was cautioned with 2 yellow cards. With a defensive game and the ball being for anyone’s taking, FC Dallas made the call to pull out their Midfielder – Thomas Roberts, Goalkeeper – Jesse Gonzalez and Midfielder – Edwin Cerrillo. Changing the lineup and following a yellow card to Brandon Servania, FC Dallas came back strong blocking 2 attempted goals and ending the international friendly with a concluded score of 0 – 0
