Oxnard, CALIF. – The Dallas Cowboys hit the road and travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to take on the L.A. Rams in Preseason week two. The game will mark the first time since 1976 that the NFL has played an exhibition game at Aloha Stadium. In addition, Saturday will be the 36th neutral site preseason game for Dallas.
The Cowboys have many new additions since the two teams met in the NFC Divisional round of playoffs last season. The team has put the bitter loss in the past and is looking ahead to their bright future with a talent filled roster.
A notable addition to the roster to watch on Saturday night, rookie running back Tony Pollard. The Cowboys’ selected the versatile back in the fourth round with the 128th overall selection out of Memphis. Pollard will face his former tiger teammate, Darrell Henderson. The Rams selected Henderson in the third round to be Todd Gurley’s primary No.2 back. The first-year player disappointed in his first preseason debut against the Raiders and Sean McVay wants to see more. He totaled just 13 yards on six carries, and a catch for -5 yards. He will be looking to earn redemption against the Cowboys.
Pollard has done nothing but meet expectations and exceed them for Dallas. He has an innate ability to find holes at the line of scrimmage and break for a long run. He has incredible speed and vision. More than an impact from a ground sense, Pollard can also make an impression in the passing game, as well as on special teams. He did not play much against the 49ers in preseason week one with Ezekiel Elliott still a no show during contract negotiations. The Cowboys’ coaching staff has made it clear that Pollard has the ability to ‘carry the whole load.’ He will be itching for snaps to face Henderson, now from the opposing sideline.
In the Divisional round last season, it was Gurley vs. Zeke. This time around, it could be Pollard vs. Henderson. Aloha!
