TCU hope to make it eight in a row vs SMU on Saturday when the Horned Frogs host the Mustangs at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth. Both teams enter the matchup undefeated for only the second time in the past 30 years. Going into this game, while there are many games ahead of us, SMU is off to a that hasn’t been witnessed in years.
The Mustangs are 3-0 for the first time since 1984. Through the last three matchups, SMU is averaging 44.3 points per game, 49-27 statement win vs. North Texas in Week 2. TCU will come with the strongest defense the Mustangs will face all season.
The Mustangs added 16 transfer to their roster, Shane Buechele was one of the biggest addition for SMU this offseason. Buechele was voted a captain by his teammates in August, and not to long after he officially won the starting position, throwing five touchdown passes against three interceptions, but a 66.3% completion rate and a total of 871 passing yards have been getting the job done in these past three games.
Buechele may be most talked about player but we cant forget about running back Xavier Jones, who rushed over 1,000 yards in 2017. Jones is back to his ways as he leads the team with 291 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
This will be the 99th meeting between TCU and SMU.
