Injury Update; Look Ahead at Cowboys vs. Eagles

FRISCO, Texas — The NFC East division title comes down to Sunday’s game against Philadelphia. Both the Cowboys and the Eagles are 7-7 and fighting for a playoff spot.

Dallas is coming off one of their best performances of the year against the Rams. The Cowboys controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football and recorded the first win this season against a team with a winning record. It is the perfect time for Dallas to string wins together.

The Eagles are one of the best teams in the league in third downs, converting 47% of attempts. The only team that is better, the Cowboys- who lead the NFL at 48.7%. It will be a battle and a rematch of sorts from Dallas’ dominant 37-10 victory over Philly in week seven.

The biggest injury leading into Sunday’s rivalry matchup is Dak Prescott’s. He has been limited in practice this week with a banged up right shoulder. Prescott underwent an MRI following the game vs. L.A. and the results were positive. He threw a few short five-yard passes on Thursday in practice, but mostly went through technique/footwork drills without the finish.

“ Toughness is something he has shown since the day he got here, “ Jason Witten remarked on Dak.
“ I think yesterday is the first practice he has missed, it’s unreal. You know, I think for him it’s just all the things that he does in this time because he’s not out there. He’s so used to being out there and I watched him today and he was calling plays, doing his drops, all the things he can. He is one of the toughest teammates I have ever had and I know he is working hard to get himself back out there. I fully expect him to play at a high level. “

He will likely start against Philadelphia. Jason Garrett said the idea for Dak this week is to “rest up, “ and they will see where he is at as the game draws closer. Sean Lee will also take a similar road to game day as last week. He was limited throughout the week to get him to the game. Lee played against the Rams at a high level. He has done individual work with trainers this week and with injuries to Leighton Vander Esch (neck), Luke Gifford (fractured forearm), and Joe Thomas (knee), his presence and diagnosis of opposing offenses is needed with the season on the line.
