Jason Garrett To Have 2nd Meeting With Jerry and Stephen Jones

FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys have not parted ways with Jason Garrett for now. That does not mean he will be the coach in 2020, the delayed response is about the upmost respect for the man who has set the framework for the franchise since 2011.

Garrett is scheduled to meet with owner/general manager Jerry Jones, and his son Stephen Jones, the executive vice president on Tuesday at noon CT per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. In addition, Garrett met with the duo on Monday but there was no decision made on the coach’s future. It was announced there would be no press conference at the Star to follow up after and Garrett met with players throughout the day on Monday to conduct exit interviews.

This season has been a tough pill to swallow for players/coaches after the disappointing 8-8 finish. The team underperformed and did not meet the high expectations placed on the talent-filled roster since Training Camp. Garrett was aware his contract would expire following he 2019 year and knew he would have to make a decent playoff run or Super Bowl appearance to keep his job, but the team concluded the season without accomplishing any of their goals. His days are numbered.

As players cleaned out their lockers and filled trash bags with their belongings, they were faced with the reality of an inconsistent season and the probable end of the Garrett era in Dallas.

Sean Lee spoke on the impact Garrett has made and his view of the coach’s legacy, “For me, it’s a guy who is an unbelievable coach, an unbelievable person. He put his heart and soul into coaching. He believed in his players with his entire heart, forced us to be better that we could be in a lot of situations and made me believe that I could come back from a lot of injuries: from a knee, from a toe, from a neck injury; A guy who inspired me and made me a better football player than I thought I could be. So from my standpoint, an unbelievable football coach, an unbelievable guy, and a guy that I love.”
