DALLAS, TEXAS — SMU Men’s Basketball hosts nationally ranked, University of Houston tonight in Moody Coliseum. Mustangs head coach, Tim Jankovich said his team will need to play their best game of the season to win this one. Forward, Feron Hunt added that he and his teammates won’t be able to make mistakes and have success in this one.

Mustangs come into tonight’s game (17-6) overall, with a win over UConn earlier in the week. The Mustangs also hold a (7-4) record in the American Athletic Conference, which currently ranks them 4th, behind Houston, Cincinnati and Tulsa. If the Mustangs can upset Houston, they’ll stay in the hunt for the regular season conference championship. The post season tournament championship will be in Fort Worth, March 12th-15th.

Houston leads the AAC, with a (10-2) conference record and ranks 20th nationally. The Cougars hosted the first match-up of the year between the in state rivals, winning by 9-points, exactly a month ago.

SMU will need to have a fast start and play consistently strong back to back halves to win this one. They’ll need point guard, Kendric Davis to get the offense in a grove early and move the ball well. Defensively, the Mustangs can’t give up uncontested shots because the Cougars can knock will down consistently.

Jankovich and his team have won 13 home games this year, dropping only 1 game so far in Moody Coliseum. They have won their last 7 in a row at home, averaging 80 points per game. Tonight will be a great opportunity for the Mustangs to continue to gain momentum in an environment that appears to be their key to success. Tip off will be at 5 pm CT.
