FRISCO, TEXAS — The Dallas Cowboys agree to a one-year deal with offensive lineman Joe Looney per Mike Garafolo.
Dallas lost one of their top rotational offensive lineman when Xavier Su’a-Filo signed a three-year deal with the Bengals but the Cowboys have locked up Looney for one more year.
The 29-year-old has played in eight NFL seasons with the 49ers (2012-2014), Titans (2015), and Cowboys (2016-2019). Looney has started 20 games during his pro career with the Cowboys. He started all 16 games in 2018 at center when he took over for Travis Frederick who was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome. He is a flexible player who can line up at guard or center. He will help provide depth alongside Connor McGovern and Adam Redmond, who was re-signed by Dallas last week.
His positive energy and attitude are just as big of a commodity as his versatility. Looney always provides laughter and has the fun-loving spirit that the Cowboys need going into a transitional period with a new regime.
