Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Pledges $1 Million to Improve Police Training

FRISCO, TEXAS — Everyone is aware of the unrest in our country today and the unjust actions by those who were sworn to protect us all, resulting in protests and riots across America.

In the wake of George Floyd’s death, many professional athletes have amplified their voices on social media, including Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott has pledged one million dollars in the fight against systematic racism.

He ended his four-part Instagram statement with the announcement, “ I plan to take action and pledge $1,000,000 to improve our police training and address systematic racism through education and advocacy in our country.”

A sincere gesture and thought-provoking message by the Cowboys’ beloved leader. It is extremely visible why the players in the locker-room have consistently praised their QB1 and his leadership abilities throughout his drawn-out contract negotiations.

He makes just as big of an impact off the field as he does on it with the way he carries himself and that is evident by his post. Prescott described his struggles with anxiety throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and grieving the loss of his brother. With that loss, came his perspective shift and emphasis to spur others to take a stand in the face of injustice and “embrace the different colors, cultures, and ways of life.”

He stressed the important truth that people have to self-reflect before trying to gather others to be catalysts for change. The change has to begin inwardly. In addition, he noted his respect for those in law enforcement that selflessly serve but called for the police force to take action and hold their own accountable for breaking the pledge to protect.

“ How can you claim to uphold the law when those within your own ranks don’t abide by it? You need to hold your own accountable! “

A powerful statement to spark change and equality.
He and I share a similar goal: “ It is our obligation to tell our neighbor how much they matter to us and take a stand for the greater good of each other.”
