Covid-19 Causes FC Dallas Not To Participate In MLS Tournament

FRISCO, TEXAS — On Monday, the MLS announced that FC Dallas will not be participating in the MLS is Back Tournament due to 10 players and 1 coach testing positive for COVID-19.

5 players from Nashville FC have also tested positive since arriving in Orlando, Florida last week.

FC Dallas was scheduled to play the Vancouver Whitecaps today, July 9th, in the opening match of the tournament.

President Dan Hunt issued a statement on the clubs social media saying “We absolutely agree with the league’s decision to withdraw FC Dallas from the MLS is back tournament out of safety concerns for our players and staff. We are looking forward to resuming the 2020 season once the entire club is healthy and in position to play competitive matches at the highest level.”
