FC Dallas, Contender For 2026 FIFA World Cup

FRISCO, TX – The announcement dropped, Dallas officially shoots their pitch to host The 2026 FIFA World Cup™

The meeting was held virtually and included the biggest names in the stage, The Dallas Sports Commission, FC Dallas President and Dallas 2026 Host Committee Chairman Dan Hunt and Dallas Cowboys Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones. The 3 franchises met with FIFA reps in Zurich, virtually to discuss the potential Dallas setting as the international stage for one of sports’ most historic events.

FIFA has had its eye on other potential hosts cites, Dallas comes in as one of the 17 including; Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Cincinnati, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York/New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and Washington, DC. This time though, FIFA is thinking bigger, this 2026 will be the largest with 80 matches, spanning across 60 USA, 10 Canada and games 10 in Mexico. The international match up will host 48 national teams, many who have stepped foot in the Cotton Bowl at Fair Park at the 1994 FIFA World Cup ™. It was the most successful competition to date based on fan attendance at 3.5 million, but experts are predicting another impact for the 2026 year. They suggest an estimated $400 million in economic impact and 3,000 jobs will be gained. As for the time being FIFA, will visit each of the 17 American cites before making the final call, set to be announced by late 2021.
