FRISCO, TEXAS — Cowboys’ right tackle La’el Collins and SAM-Backer Sean Lee have both been limited throughout training camp.
Collins has reportedly been dealing with lingering issues from a hip injury and Lee is no stranger to having a limited workload in camp over the course of his career with a plague of injuries. The longtime veteran linebacker has been dealing with a sports hernia. Lee started in all 16 games last season for the first time in his career, dating back to his rookie season in 2010.
Lee and Collins have been placed on injured reserve and will miss some time. They will be out the first three games of the 2020 season.
Swing tackle Cam Erving will likely be the starting right tackle in week one against the Rams. At linebacker, the Cowboys are weak on the depth chart. The club currently has two linebackers who have practiced all camp without injury: Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith. In addition to Lee, Luke Gifford has been nursing an injury but he is not expected to be placed on IR. Joe Thomas was cut to make room for newly acquired wide receiver Malik Turner. Justin March-Lillard was also released on Saturday but is reported to be re-signed in the near future with spots opening up on the roster.
