FRISCO, TEXAS — The Dallas Cowboys made several roster adjustments on Tuesday after three key players were moved to injured reserve: tight end Blake Jarwin, middle linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, and offensive tackle Cam Erving.
The Cowboys filled the three open roster spots by promoting defensive back Brandon Carr from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, and signing offensive tackle Alex Light from the Cardinals’ practice squad and linebacker Rashad Smith from the Bears’ practice squad.
Erving sprained his MCL in his left knee and will likely miss a few weeks. Vander Esch underwent surgery on Tuesday for a fractured collarbone that could keep him on the sideline for 6-8 weeks and Blake Jarwin will miss the remainder of the 2020 season with a torn ACL. Light and Smith will add depth for Dallas within the offensive line and at linebacker.
With Brandon Carr now permanently on the 53 and safety Luther Kirk cut from the practice squad, Dallas filled both spots on the squad by signing defensive back Steven Parker and defensive back Rashard Robinson. Under new CBA regulations, teams are allowed to activate two practice squad players on a game week to bring the roster to 55 players. After the game has concluded, the players are moved back to the PS.
