FRISCO, TEXAS — After receiving an out pour of love and support following his devastating season-ending ankle injury, quarterback Dak Prescott released a video on Thursday morning headed to his first post-operation appointment. He broke the silence and gave a powerful message of gratitude to the Cowboys and NFL fans.
He took to Instagram to share how he is doing and as always, despite the adversity, he did so with a huge grin on his face- a testament to his unwavering Faith. A long statement made from Cowboys’ QB1 but one that is worth the read.
“ What’s up everyone? Just want everyone to know that I’m doing well and I cannot thank you enough for all your love, your support, and your prayers over the last few days. They have been more than overwhelming from teammates, to family, to friends, to fans I don’t know, to current and former players around the league, and players around all sports, I just wanted to say thank you. Definitely appreciate it and received well. Just knowing I have that much love and support out there makes a huge difference. I’m in great spirits. I’m headed to see the doctor for the first time post-surgery, so just ready to start this road to comeback. This little adversity is just going to be another chapter in the book and I’m excited to move forward and write it. Just once again, cannot thank you all enough for your love and your support through it all. But I’m in great spirits and I’m going to stay that way. I’m looking forward to this football season and seeing the game in a different perspective and supporting my teammates and those around the league that need it. Just excited, excited for God’s purpose and God’s plan, I know it’s bigger than anything that I see or could imagine but I’m trusting Him. My faith is double downed more than ever and I’m thankful that He’s my Savior and that He guides me in life so I know through Him, all this will be possible and all this will be a great comeback and a great story. Once again, thank you for your support and for your love and ready to get this journey of the comeback started. God bless you all, thank you. “
As a 26-year-old, it is no secret that Prescott has faced unimaginable tragedy in his young life. He has faced all of the adversities with an incredible strength and to no surprise; this injury is just a minor setback to a major comeback. He is once again focusing on the positives and looking forward to growing and seeing the game of football through a new lens of perspective.
He began the process on Thursday showing up to the Star facility to see teammates and coaches for the first time since his injury. Mike McCarthy told media, “ You just see the reaction everybody has that he’s here, I just think that speaks volumes about him as a man and just the electricity that he brings to our football team. “
Prescott will continue to show his devotion and commitment to the Cowboys but instead of it being on the gridiron, he will do so from the sidelines this season.
