FRISCO, TEXAS — It is week six of the NFL season and likely one that Cowboys’ slot receiver CeeDee Lamb had circled. It is a sooner reunion. Lamb will face one of his former quarterbacks at Oklahoma, Kyler Murray.

Even though the two will both be on opposite sidelines, Lamb is looking forward to seeing his former teammate.

“ It will mean a lot, “ Lamb told media. “ I mean that’s my brother at the end of the day. We went to college together. Had great memories and we’re living out our dream that we’re going through now. Somebody’s got to come out with and L. I’m not planning on it being us.”

Lamb developed a friendship with Murray but still wants to see his team leave AT&T Stadium victorious. Both are off to a stellar start in 2020, Murray in his second year with the Cardinals and Lamb in his rookie season with the Cowboys.

Lamb currently leads all rookies in the league in receptions (29), receiving yards (433), and is tied for the lead in touchdowns with two. He has proven his ability to make big-plays out the slot this season, accumulating the second-most receptions of 20-plus yards among all receivers.

Dual-threat quarterback, Murray, is averaging 260 passing yards a game and 60 rushing yards. He has five touchdowns on the ground and eight through the air. His athleticism and speed are a nightmare for defenses when he breaks out of the pocket.

Lamb discussed how Murray helped him as a player, “ He’s definitely a leader. He’d keep me, when we were in college, he’d definitely keep me composed as far as never getting rattled or upset or anything. He definitely did a great job of keeping me motivated and just ready to go.”

Those are tips he has certainly taken with him to the pros and the words of wisdom continue to translate onto the field. The Cardinals had already made the trade to acquire DeAndre Hopkins from the Texans, an addition to the receiving corps. to complement Larry Fitzgerald, but during the pre-draft process, Murray lobbied for Arizona to draft Lamb. The Cardinals obviously took a different path and an interesting turn of events ensued back in April and Lamb fell to No.17 and into the Cowboys’ lap.

During pre-draft interviews, Lamb stated that many people compared him to Hopkins, one of the NFL’s best wideouts. Hopkins consistently makes contested catches and is as fluid of a route runner as there is. When asked about the comparison and nuances of Hopkins’ game, Lamb told D210SPORTS, “ I watch him a lot. And I definitely did when I was in high school and college. Nothing changed. I still think the same of him. He’s a great receiver, top in the position itself. I like everything hat he does, the way he attacks the ball, everything- the release, the route. Overall, he’s pretty much the whole package. He has a great catch radius. There’s not really too many bad things you can tell about him. That’s the kind of affect I want to have on everybody else.”

Two of the NFL’s most prolific receiving corps. will go head-to-head on Monday night and Lamb and Hopkins will be leading the charge.
