QB Andy Dalton Placed on Reserve/COVID-19 List

FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys have suffered another blow. It turns out; concussion protocol will not be the only thing standing in Andy Dalton’s way of returning to the gridiron.

ESPN’s Todd Archer reported on Tuesday that the Cowboys will be placing the ten-year veteran on the reserve/injured list. There has been no explanation regarding a positive test or exposure to an infected person as the reasoning behind Dalton’s placement.

The team was hopeful Dalton would be cleared to return from concussion protocol to start on Sunday as the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers come to town but that will not be the case.

Without Dalton available, Dallas will likely once again go to their backup option for the second-straight game, Ben DiNucci.

Against the Eagles, DiNucci faced constant pressure and frequently held onto the football too long- not the makings of a winning formula. The James Madison product finished the game 21-of-40 for 180 yards.

Owner and general manager, Jerry Jones was asked on 105.3 The Fan about DiNucci’s NFL debut in week eight prior to the release of Dalton being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Jones responded in complete transparency, “ I think that it was a lot for him. I think we certainly, as a team, paid the price to have him come in and under those circumstances. And that’s almost trite. It was frankly more than he could handle.”
