New Beginnings; Bad Endings

ARLINGTON, Texas — With the building of a new stadium, you would think that would be enough spark to do better than last year, yet the rangers did the opposite, after finishing third in their division American League West, in 2019 they finished this season with American League worst 22-38 record which made them fifth in their division.

A lot of changes are being made around the organization although they seem to be teetering into discombobulation when it comes to pitchers.

As for now Lance Lynn is the last man standing, the Texas Rangers declined the $18 million contract option on Korey Kluber although they look to re-sign him, and Mike Minor was traded to Oakland for two minor leaguers.

With the new stadium comes a new beginning. Doug Mathis and Brenden Sagara have been named co-pitching coaches as the Rangers have now relieved Julio Rangel of his position as pitching coach after being there for two seasons.

Meanwhile, catching coach Hector Ortiz will not return to the big league but was offered a position on the minor league level. The addition of Mathis and Sagara as coaches could give the team a reason for optimism in 2021 along with some positive individual performances from last year.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Joey Gallo are returning both are Gold Glove winners.Kiner-Falefa had a .969 fielding percentage, four outs above avg which were second most at third base while managing to save eight total runs and was first among American League third basemen and third in MLB overall.

Joey Gallo had the right field on lockdown. He saved 12 total runs, which was the highest total of any MLB right fielders. Tagged along with three outfield assists.

It may seem a tad bit too early but as for now your Texas Rangers are ranked no.29. in MLB power rankings, we now have something to look forward to as that should put a chip on their shoulder.
