ARLINGTON, Texas — Good glove control, quick hands, and strong arms, that’s what makes a good short-stop. Texas Rangers are looking to make Gold Glove-winning third baseman, Isaiah Kiner-Falefa the starter. Falefa has good range to get to balls, makes some of the toughest plays which lead to the
assumption of him being very athletic.
He’s a natural shortstop, he’s always been a plus defender” General manager Jon Daniels stated.
Shortstop won’t be so new for Falefa, he started 15 games at Shortstop before earning the third
base spot and making 42 starts at that position.
Kiner-Falefa had a .969 fielding percentage, four outs above average which were second-most at
third base while managing to save 8 total runs and was first among American League third
basemen and third in MLB overall.
But there’s more to Falefa than just defense, he actually leads his team in on-base percentage at
.329, batting average at .280, and also leads the team in hits with 59 total.
With the Rangers making changes this off-season and trying to see what works, Falefa may have
to make some changes of his own, at least to his workout plan.
