Cowboys’ Injury Updates: Wednesday Pool Report

FRISCO, Texas — Ahead of Sunday’s week 17 matchup against the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys released a pool report on Wednesday. The team practiced in shells inside Ford Center at the Star.

During the open portion of practice: linebacker Leighton Vander Esch (ankle), safety Darian Thompson (concussion protocol), cornerback Rashard Robinson (knee), and safety Donovan Wilson (illness) did not practice.

Safety Xavier Woods (ribs) participated in individual drills with team trainers and running back Ezekiel Elliott (calf) did resistance training with the athletic training staff off to the side.

Elliott told media on Wednesday that he is “feeling good” following the matchup against the Eagles, and confirmed he is feeling the “freshest” he has felt since prior to the injury that sidelined him against the 49ers.

Right guard Zack Martin (Reserve/Injured; calf) and defensive back Steven Parker (Reserve/Injured; ankle) have been designated for return, beginning their 21-day practice window. Both can be activated at any time during the period. Parker practiced on Wednesday, but Martin did not.

Owner and general manager, Jerry Jones stated on local radio show 105.3 The Fan that he does not anticipate Martin playing against the Giants. “He [Zack Martin] will make and can make such a difference in this football team. He’s made a difference on any one he’s ever been on, but this one he can make a tremendous difference. It’s unlikely that we can have him this week, but in the future, we could push it and it would give us a dramatic upgrade. It really is the reason for a real optimistic thought about what happens if we could get in the playoffs. It’s a real, valid, tangible thing to hang your hat on.”
