FC Dallas Preparing For The MLS Draft

FRISCO, TEXAS — As the MLS Draft approaches on January 21, FC Dallas coach Lunchi Gonzales and technical director Andre Zanotta are preparing fast to obtain the best draft picks for the upcoming season. Although there is no set start date yet for the 2021 season, the FC Dallas coach and players are staying ready for when the season will begin.

D210SPORTS spoke with Andre Zanotta regarding signing the number one center back, Jose Antonio and the possible draft prospects going into Thursday. Zanotta stated, “We were very excited about Antonio, he has a great work ethic and he will be a great addition to this team. Going into the draft we have the 15th pick, so there aren’t any specific players we are looking for, but our goal is to get the best of the best that’s available and what we feel we need for the team to be successful.”

Zanotta also commented about the slight challenges they face in this upcoming season due to the ongoing pandemic. Zanotta stated, “ it has made our offseason difficult and we have had to adjust to new ways of preparing not only for this upcoming draft but for this season. It’s been challenging for us and our players but we are doing our best to follow the CDC guidelines on how to continue being safe while we move forward to scout/draft new athletes and inform our current athletes on how to keep up with training during these unprecedented times.”

Coach Gonzals added onto Zanotta’s comment saying, “ we not only have a great team but we have a great foundation that is strong. These guys are ready to play at any given moment and even though it’s still unknown of when we will play, we know they are staying disciplined and active.”
