DALLAS, Texas — SMU to host Memphis in 2nd of back to back American Athletic Conference basketball match ups. Tuesday’s game resulted in a 76-72 loss for the Mustangs, but they’ll have the home court advantage Thursday night.
SMU enters tonight’s game 8-3 overall and 4-3 in the American Conference. They lead the conference in scoring, assists and field goal percentage. The Mustangs got off to an outstanding start and currently rank 4th in the conference.
Memphis heads to Dallas on a 3-game win streak at 9-5 overall and 5-2 in the AAC. The Tigers are lead by former NBA great, Penny Hardaway, in his 3rd year as Head Coach. The Tigers are 2nd in the AAC regular season rankings, only behind Houston.
Jr. Point Guard, Kendric Davis recently earned a spot on the Lute Olsen Award watch list, which honors the national player of the year. Davis’ the focal point of the SMU offensive, leading them in assists and scoring, which has been huge in the teams’ ability to average over 78 points per game.
SMU announced Head Coach, Tim Jankovich tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. He was not with the team in Memphis on Tuesday.
