Mavericks, Pelicans Clash In Divisional Game Tonight; Dallas Hopes To Extend Win Streak To 4

DALLAS, TEXAS — After winning their last three games the 12-14 Mavericks will continue their home stand against the 11-13 New Orleans Pelicans. Dallas has played an exceptional week of basketball and haven’t lost a game since last Thursday.

After struggling in the month of January the Mavericks turned it around winning 4 out of their last 6 games winning 3 three games at home and 1 on the road. The two losses the team suffered happened a week apart and for the most part the Mavericks have been able to overcome their tumultuous start to the season.

In their last three wins the Mavericks have averaged 126 points on offense and scored 70+ first half points in two out of three of those games proving the Mavericks have gotten back on track offensively. The defense hasn’t been the best but they have stepped up when needed and played a part in part in their winning streak.

The Pelicans are coming off a road loss to the Bulls on Wednesday but are 2-1 in their last three games averaging 118 points per game in that span. The Mavericks will have their hands full with a Pelicans team that features Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, & Lonzo Ball who combined to score 71 of the Pelicans 116 points scored in their loss to the Bulls.

The Mavericks have hit an advantageous stretch in this part of the schedule not having to leave home for another 9 games, and since the Mavericks have welcomed vaccinated fans back into the stadium Dallas has a 3-0 record. Although it is a small home court advantage, it is a home court advantage nonetheless.

A win tonight wouldn’t only set the tone for the Mavericks long home stand but also hammer down the finer details of the identity of this team, and it will be beneficial to their hopes of gaining ground in the Southwestern division.
