AMES, IOWA — TCU moved to 12-10 on the season and snapped a three-game losing streak after a 76-72 win over Iowa State (2-18).
RJ Nembhard and Mike Miles both had 19 points a piece to seal the deal for the Horned Frogs tonight. Nembhard scored 11 of his 19 points in the last seven minutes of the game to push TCU to the victory.
The Horned Frogs led by as much as 14 points in the first half with the help of Chuck O’Bannon and Kevin Samuel. O’Bannon had 11 points and Samuel added 10.
TCU went into the locker room up 37-30.
The Cyclones came into the second half and made the first 11 of their 14 shots to start out the half. The Cyclones tied the game at 57 and it was a back and forth contest from then on out. Iowa State took the lead late in the second half at 56-53 but TCU quickly scored to take the lead back for the remainder of the game.
Iowa State’s second half rally came without Rasin Bolton. Going into the half he led in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. He injured his ankle late in the first half and did not return for the remainder of the game.
TCU’s offense today was a team effort. Four of the five TCU starters scored in the double-figures. The Horned Frogs shot 43 percent from the floor, 40 percent from beyond the arc, and went 100 percent from the free throw line making all 18.
TCU will continue on the road and head to Texas Tech on Tuesday night. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
