TCU Returns To Schollmaier Arena To Close Out Regular Season Against No. 15 Texas

FORT WORTH, TX — TCU (12-12) returns to Schollmaier Arena for their final home game of the season to take on No. 15 Texas (16-7). Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m on Big 12 now and ESPN+.

The Horned Frogs had a rough last week, they lost their last two games on the road. Their most recent loss was on Thursday to West Virginia. They fell to the Mountaineers 76-67. TCU shot well from the field converting on 38.9 percent from the floor and 76 percent from the freethrow line. Where they struggled was from beyond the arc, converting on only 5-of-19 from the three-point line.

Their offense had more depth than the usual RJ Nembhard show. The bench contributed 24 points and three TCU players scored in double figures. Jaedon LeDee came off the bench and led the Horned Frogs with a career-high 20 points and eight rebounds.

Their defense was the reason they came up short to West Virginia. They got out rebounded 43-35 and gave up 18 offensive boards.

This will be the Longhorns fifth straight game on the road. Texas has won their previous four games, including a win over No. 13 Kansas. They are coming into this game with a resume boosting win over No. 16 Oklahoma this past Thursday. The Longhorns depth chart within their offense is very consistent, four players scored in double figures and Jericho Sims and Andrew Jones led with 16 points a piece.

The Last time these two teams played each other was on February 13. TCU lost by 15 points due to lack of depth within their offense. That has been a consistent issue all year for TCU. They heavily rely on RJ Nembhard and have no answers beyond him. In their last matchup Nembhard led with 15 points and Mike Miles added 10 points. Texas had 4 players score in the high double figures, led by Andrew Jones who had 19 points.

If TCU wants to end their season on a good note they are going to have to get more creative on offense. They can’t rely only on RJ Nembhard and they can not rely on shooting endless three’s because that has yet to work all season.

It was a close rebounding game the last time these two teams went head to head. TCU fell short on the glass 37-31. This time around TCU has to step it up in the paint defensively and offensively if they want a chance to beat this top 20 team.
