No. 8 TCU Faces No. 9 Kansas State As Big 12 Tournament Play Tips-Off

KANSAS CITY, MO —  As the start of the Big 12 tournament kicks off No. 8 TCU (12-13, 5-11) will face off with No. 9 Kansas State (8-19, 4-14) on Wednesday night at T-Mobile center in Kansas City. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. 

These two teams have already gone head to head twice this season. They split the series with both teams winning on the road. TCU won at Kansas State 67-60, and KSU won at TCU 62-54. Kansas State has consistently beat TCU in the Big 12 tournament the last three years. 

The Horned Frogs are coming off a 76-64 loss to No. 15 Texas on Sunday afternoon. TCU is on a three-game losing streak, all three teams are currently ranked in the Top-25 AP Poll. RJ Nembhard led TCU with 13 points.Mike Miles added 12 points. 

Both Nembhard and Miles received Big 12 conference honors this week. Nembhard is fifth in the Big 12 in scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game. He recorded seven 20-point games, which is ranked fourth in the Big 12. Miles recorded four 20-point games, the second most of any freshman in the Big 12. As a freshman he averaged 13.8 points per game, among freshmen he ranked second in the Big 12 and 15th nationally. 

Kevin Samuel is also ranked third in the Big 12, averaging 7.9 rebounds per game and first in the Big 12 with 3 offensive rebounds per game. 

Kansas State is on a hot streak. They have won three of their last four games, their latest win being to Iowa State on Saturday. The 61-56 win was led by Senior Guard Mike McGuril, he had 17 points, five rebounds, and 1 assist. 

The winner faces No. 1 Baylor in the quarter finals on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
