FRISCO, Texas — The Cowboys lost swing tackle Cam Erving in free agency to the Panthers and added depth. The club agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Arlington native, Ty Nsekhe. The veteran tackle will add competition to the mix joining Brandon Knight and Terence Steele.
The 35-year-old played 15 games last season for the Buffalo Bills. Prior to his two-year stint in Buffalo, Nsekhe spent four seasons with the Washington Football Team. He has started in 17 games and is a solid depth addition.
The Cowboys dealt with a makeshift offensive line in 2020 due to a myriad of injuries to the front five. Dallas more than anyone knows the importance of reliable backups that can plug in and play when called upon. Both starting tackles La’el Collins and Tyron Smith spent the majority of the 2020 season on Injured Reserve and Knight and Steele were the replacements. The two improved as the season wore on and Nsekhe has the most experience to add as a backup heading into camp. He provides much needed insurance for the Cowboys as the team looks to 2021.
