FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys signed another free agent on Wednesday, agreeing to a one-year deal with tight end Jeremy Sprinkle, the team announced.
During his four-year career with the Washington Football Team, Sprinkle notched 34 catches for 301 yards and three touchdowns. He served predominately as an in-line blocker assisting in run support/pass protection for Washington. Dallas lost their blocking tight end Blake Bell to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency and Sprinkle will join a unit including Blake Jarwin, Dalton Schultz, and Sean McKeon.
The former fifth-round pick has started 28 games during his NFL tenure but never found consistency as a receiving threat over the middle of the field. He will join a group in Dallas consisting mainly of pass-catchers with the absence of the “belldozer.” Sprinkle will now have the opportunity to fill the vacant role to become the Cowboys’ primary blocking tight end in 2021.
