FC Dallas Set For Home Opener Against Colorado Rapids

FC Dallas (Eddie Koton)

FRISCO, Texas — There are just a few days until FC Dallas prepares for their first home game season opener against Colorado. Everything is going smooth and FC Dallas is ready to start the season.
In today’s press conference D210SPORTS spoke with Head Coach Luchi Gonzales as he discussed the health of his players and gave us an overall overview of how the FC Dallas preseason went.

Gonzales stated, “Forward Jesus Ferreira suffered a shoulder injury, where he has some ligament damage, so he will be out for a few games. It kills me to see him out, especially with the start of the season just a few days away. He has made an impact on this team and he really knows how to bring the guys together but he will return to the field hopefully sooner than later..”

As far as the rest of the team goes, everyone is mostly healthy and ready to play. “Obviously this preseason was a little different than the past years, we only took two trips as a team and played in San Antonio, TX and Houston, TX, I felt that those trips helped us a lot. We integrated well as a team. We witnessed each others strengths and weakness, and I know say this a lot but we have a great set of guys with great hearts who care and respect each other on and off the field, so I was very pleased with how this preseason went given the challenges we’ve had to face with Covid-19 and the pandemic, says Gonzales”

FC Dallas plans to have limited capacity of fans at this week’s first game so we wanted to know what the safety protocols are in place at Toyota Stadium and also are the players and coaches vaccinated? Will it be a requirement to play or be present at the game?

FC Dallas President Daniel Hunt stated, “almost 80-90% of our players have already been vaccinated, the others still have antibodies to protect them, and we monitor the players daily. We will still enforce masks and social distancing for everyone because we want people to not only stay protected but to feel safe.” As we stated before, there is only limited capacity for the first few games. Hunt stated, “ we didn’t want to have 100% capacity starting out because we wanted to ease into the season the right way and again make people feel safe while enjoying the game, but we will be increasing capacity June 19th.”

FC Dallas kicks off its season at home Saturday, April 17th against Colorado.
