FRISCO, Texas — With the last pick in the draft, the Cowboys added depth to the offensive line with Nebraska’s Matt Farniok.
Farniok started every game the last three seasons (2018-2020) at Nebraska from three different positions: right tackle (26), right guard (9), and one start at center. That position flexibility was a significant draw, being able to move around within the interior of the line. He was named a team captain for the Cornhuskers as a junior and senior, voted by his teammates. One of the players he looks up to and tries to model his game after is a guy who will become his teammate, Zack Martin.
Farniok emphatically described Martin as the “all-time competitor. One of the best in the game right now.”
“He [Martin] wants to not only win the rep but dominate it.”
The Nebraska product can compete at multiple spots but will likely begin at guard during training camp. Needs development both as a run blocker and in pass protection but provides another backup depth piece for Dallas.
